PVC Pipe Pipe Drilling Tips Drilling is easy to do when you follow these techniques.
Here's how to do it... The old fashioned method was to draw a straight line along the length of the pipe, measure and mark where you wanted each hole to be. And drill the hole, hoping the bit doesn't "slide" away from your mark.
Now there's a better way. I've designed a useful "production grade" drilling jig that you attach to a small, inexpensive table-top drill press. And it's simple to use. You just lay the pipe on the jig's sled, clamp it and drill. Move the sled to the next "stop" and drill again. Keep going until you're done. Piece of cake. If you need to make the same holes in more pipe, just repeat the process. You can drill accurately spaced holes in one pipe or a thousand! Best of all, the jig is downright cheap to make. I've shop-tested it for my own projects and needless to say... I'm delighted! To complete your PVC shop, you really oughta have your own drilling jig. It's a snap to build and your plans – loads of photos and directions – are here waiting for you. They're on a CD for easy use and cost only $19.
